Democrats are beginning to feel the heat in response to Nancy Pelosi’s attempt to overturn a state-certified election in Iowa’s Second Congressional District.
It was back in December when we began hearing that House Democrats were feeling ‘anxious’ about overturning a certified election. Michigan Democrat and DCCC leader Rep. Dan Kildee said, “Folks are anxious about it, for good reason.”
On Sunday, Representative David Price (NC-04) went on Fox News and said he doesn’t believe there’s the, “slightest chance” House Democrats would overturn the state certified results. In the same interview, Price calls the topic, “sensitive” and “difficult.”
Last week, Iowa’s Democrat State Auditor Rob Sand, who certified Congresswoman Mariannette Miller-Meeks’s victory, finally broke his silence on Pelosi’s attempt to overturn his own certification. Sand was “audibly uncomfortable” when asked if he was pleased with Rita Hart avoiding the Iowa court system – a process he called his “first preference.”
Later, former DCCC Chair Rep. Cheri Bustos (IL-07) was confronted and remained silent on the Iowa contest. Bustos is on the NRCC’s list of target races for 2022 and would be one of many vulnerable House Democrats to put their political career on the line to get Hart in Congress.
“Congressional districts are still in the process of being drawn and Pelosi’s attempt to overturn an Iowa election is becoming a liability for vulnerable House Democrats,” said Republican Party of Iowa Communication Director Kollin Crompton. “Cindy Axne, and any other vulnerable Democrats, should be put on notice. If they vote to overturn a state-certified election, Iowa and national Republicans will ensure it is a political scarlet letter they must answer for in 2022.”
