Iowa’s congressional delegation has no problems shrieking over
proposals to spend $300 million here and $300 million there. When a
faction that despises their voters requests $40,000 million at the
drop of a hat for an issue in which our children have absolutely no
interest, they roll over just like anyone else.

Official conservatism maintained that President Trump was an insincere
charlatan well into his presidency. At a 2020 campaign event, I heard
Randy Feenstra’s vision for the country. At a time when much of the
country was mired in rioting, crime and lockdowns, all he could talk
about was the deficit and fiscal responsibility. When the time came to
stand for his long-cherished principles, he cast them aside to vote
with Pelosi and AOC. Who are the party’s true charlatans?
