On Saturday, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced if he becomes the Speaker of the House he will remove Rep. Ilhan Omar from the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He referenced Omar’s prior anti-Semitic comments as the logic behind her removal.

McCarthy said he promised last year she would not be on the Foreign Affairs Committee if he became speaker a year ago and he will follow through on that promise.

Why or how Omar got on the committee to begin with remains a mystery.

In addition to her anti-Semitic comments, Omar also said “some people did something” in reference to 9-11 previously.
