I am a 13+ year resident of Altoona and have been married to my husband for eleven plus years and we have three children, Rachael (23) Isaac (21), and Gabriel (18). My three children all graduated from public schools: Isaac and Rachael graduated from the Bondoraunt Public School District, and my youngest (Gabriel) graduated from South East Polk in 2020.

I have become a part of the community as a homeroom parent and later in my son’s education as a “band mom.” I have been an active member of Saint John and Saint Paul Catholic Churches, where I was the coordinator for child care volunteers for 8 years and underwent annual Veritas child abuse training.

After many hours of training my husband and I both became Court Appointed Special advocates in 2019: “CASAs are Court Appointed Special Advocates. Once a CASA volunteer accepts a case, they are officially appointed by a Juvenile Court judge, authorizing them to become involved in the child’s case and gain access to their records. As the Juvenile Court’s eyes and ears for children in foster care, these volunteer advocates speak up on their assigned child’s behalf and help them through what is often a confusing and scary time.”

Currently, I am a precinct captain, a member of the Polk County GOP Central Committee, an elected board member of the Altoona Area Chamber of Commerce and a board member of Iowans for LIFE.

The following is a short summary of why I am running and what focus and attitude I will bring to the SEP school board.

*Use my BA and MA in psychology along with my experience as a parent of special needs, and minority children to be a voice for underrepresented students.
*Support educating our children by every means necessary including traditional, home school, online, charter, parochial, hybrid, etc…
*Use my 17+ years in Human Resources to support the retention and recruitment of staff and teachers.
*Advocate for multiple avenues of success post-graduation including four-year college, two-year college, apprenticeship programs, military service, and job corps.
*Demand Truth in Education
*Support parental rights and responsibilities.
