A new poll was released from Congressman Steve King’s campaign on Monday, October 7, which demonstrates the congressman’s strong support from primary voters. This poll was conducted by G1 Survey Research and asks voters who they support in the 2020 primary. The poll also surveyed voters on their reaction to the New York Times hit piece that attempted to paint Congressman King as a racist and a white nationalist.

The poll can be viewed on the King for Congress website. Here are the three main points:

  1. Voters’ trust in Steve King is clearly reflected in the ballot, where 59% of voters support King in a crowded primary.

Congressman Steve King has a commanding, 44-point lead in the Republican Primary race for Iowa’s Fourth District. Fifty-nine percent (59%) of likely Primary Election voters support King on the ballot. Challengers Feenstra, Taylor, Richards, and Reeder receive a combined twenty-three percent (23%)of the ballot share. Seventeen percent (17%) are undecided.

2. Despite 70% of Republican primary voters having heard about Steve King’s comments in the New York Times, voters side with King (74%) over the media (15%) on this issue at a ratio of 5:1.

“Steve King has been characterized by the media as a racist and a white nationalist. Steve King says he is being purposely misquoted and this is just another example of fake news. Would you say you agree with the media, or do you agree with Steve King?”

3. The voters’ measure of Steve King’s effectiveness is demonstrated in the congressman’s high job approval numbers (72%).

“Overall, would you say you approve or disapprove of the job Steve King has done as United States Congressman?”

“These poll results mirror what I am seeing on the ground”, said Congressman Steve King. “Republicans in the 4th District are overwhelmingly choosing to stand with me as the only proven and tested conservative in this race. Voters know where I stand, they know I tell them the unflinching truth, and they know my record of effectively advancing our shared Iowa values in Congress.  Conservatives understand that President Trump needs consistent allies like me to fight off an illegitimate impeachment effort fueled by Fake News media narratives.  These impressive poll results show I am the only candidate they trust to boldly stand shoulder-to-shoulder with President Trump in the face of the constant barrage of attacks from Democrats and their Never Trump, open-borders allies.”

Congressman King went on to say, “Iowa voters are clearly wise to the Leftist media’s smear tactics. They know I am a target for supporting President Trump’s ‘America-First’ agenda. They can’t stand the thought of allowing pro-America, pro-borders, pro-Ag, pro-Life, pro-Rule of Law, pro-Western Civilization elected officials to stay in office because they are representing mainstream, common sense, America loving citizens. The political establishment is in a frenzy to defeat our campaign in the 2020 primary, but this poll overwhelmingly demonstrates our rock solid support in the district.”

*Interviews were collected from October 1-3, 2019 amount n=400 likely Primary voters. The margin of error is ± 4.89%.
