The Iowa Standard has learned some students at Linn-Mar High School are not comfortable with a teacher. The teacher, who goes by Mx. instead of Ms. according to sources, had a transgender pride flag draped around their back during the school day and wears a dress or dresses that cause a distraction for some students.

The Iowa Standard reached out to Linn-Mar asking about the situation on Tuesday afternoon. We asked the district if it had been made aware of any concerns or comfort issues with the teacher. We also asked what, if anything, the district is doing for a remedy.

Linn-Mar has a staff directory available online, but no photograph of this particular teacher is posted. We requested the official identification photo of this staff member from the district.

As of Wednesday afternoon, The Iowa Standard has not received any response from Linn-Mar.

District policy states:

Appearance: The board expects employees to conduct themselves in a professional manner appropriate to the educational environment and, as such, employees will be well groomed and dress in attire appropriate for their position. Clothing should be neat, clean, and free from inappropriate graphics. Discretion and common sense call for an avoidance of extremes which would interfere with or have a detrimental effect on the educational process.
