Democrat State Sen. Janet Petersen proposed Senate File 2017 on Wednesday. The bill requires curriculum taught in school districts and accredited nonpublic schools to include certain things.

For K-6 grades, the bill requires instruction in identifying parts of the body. It also requires curriculum taught in those grades include “age-appropriate and research-based” information regarding the importance of “empathy” and how to establish and respect physical boundaries.

Beginning in seventh grade, the bill requires age-appropriate and research-based information regarding how to give proper sexual consent, how to recognize proper sexual consent, how to identify sexually predatory behavior, the characteristics of healthy and unhealthy sexual relationships and how to prevent sexual assault.

  1. Proper sexual consent is when the Father gives away the Bride to the Groom. It’s called a Wedding, followed by a Honeymoon, followed with many Children and a happy life…

  2. Umm. No, with as many warped and or perverted teachers in our schools, I wouldn’t want any of them saying a word about sexuality, let alone, the birds and bees. Teachers should be focused on the 3 Rs and leave the subject of “consent” to parents.
