South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott shared his positive vision of America and the opportunities it provides on Friday during the Republican Party of Iowa’s Lincoln Dinner.

Scott recounted two lessons his grandfather taught him as a boy — to kneel to God in prayer and to stand for the flag in respect. His grandfather taught this even though he was born in the deep south and understood a “very different America.” But, he told Scott he could be bitter or he could get better — but he couldn’t do both.

Scott said his mother taught him there is dignity in all work as she worked 16 hours a day as a nurses’ aide.

“If you’re able-bodied in America, you work,” he said. “That’s called America. If you take out a loan, you pay it back. And if you commit a violent crime, you go to jail. And if God made you a man, you play sports against men. These are simple, common-sense lessons of America.”

However, Joe Biden and “the radical Left” are attacking the values that made America possible. Scott said Biden is tearing down every run of the ladder that helped Scott climb.

In order to protect America, Scott said we must back the blue.

“The radical Left wants to defund and demonize and demoralize the police,” he said. “It’s our responsibility to refund and rebuild local law enforcement.”

Scott wants to see a tougher America on violent criminals.

“By doing so, we will allow grandmothers like the one that raised me not to be trapped in her house from the time the sun goes down until the time the sun comes up,” he said.

He called for finishing the border wall along the southern border, noting that 70,000 Americans have lost their lives to fentanyl.

Scott said the border should be closed. He said he’d stand toe-to-toe with China and not allow them to spy on American kids, buy farmlands and steal jobs.

“We will stop them and win this economic war by creating jobs in America,” he said.

Minerals, medicines and microchips will be three specific areas as President he would focus the intellectual ability and workforce to create 10 million new American jobs.

But in order to make it happen, the right must win the cultural war. The Left has created a culture of grievance, Scott said.

“We must win this battle against the culture of grievance,” he said. “And as President of the United States, I will make sure that the truth of my life continues to disprove the lies of the radical Left. This is the greatest country on God’s green Earth. I am living proof that all things are possible in God’s country. And that as we hold onto His dear hand, we can remember that HE is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or imagine. we can remember that all things are truly possible,b ut we must choose greatness over grievance, victory over victimhood, and we must protect his land of opportunity so it doesn’t become with the radical Left’s land of oppression.”
