Stand for America Fund, which is aligned with Nikki Haley, attacked Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for flip-flopping on eminent domain. SFA Fund spokesperson Brittany Yanick called DeSantis “out of touch” with rural Iowa.

DeSantis said last week he supports eminent domain for energy pipeline projects. Those words came after he said eminent domain for private use isn’t appropriate.

In August of 2023, DeSantis argued using eminent domain should be avoided for the carbon capture pipelines and be limited to things like highways and the border wall.

A recent poll from The Des Moines Register shows almost 80 percent of Iowans opposed carbon capture pipelines, the release said.

“Ron DeSantis is out of touch with rural Iowa as he supports eminent domain for energy pipelines, yet 78% of Iowans oppose having their land taken from them for carbon capture pipelines,” Yanick said. “If Ron is willing to allow an energy company to take your land, then what else will do for big companies at the expense of working-class families in Iowa.”
