Virginia’s voters sent shock waves through the Democratic Party and the national media in November when they elected Republicans to all three major statewide offices and took enough seats to flip the House.
In the governor’s race, conservative businessman Glenn Youngkin defeated Clinton crony and former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, overcoming the huge Democratic advantage in Northern Virginia.
Moreover, Virginia voters elected two minority Republicans – a conservative black woman, Winsome Sears, as lieutenant governor and a conservative Hispanic, Jason Miyares, whose mother Miriam fled Communist Cuba, as attorney general.
How did they do this and what lessons are there for conservatives and the Republican Party for the congressional election in 2022 and the presidential election in 2024?
