President Donald J. Trump has said he is “undecided” on the carbon capture pipelines planned for the state. Those plans include seizing land from Iowans through eminent domain for a private, for-profit project.

Now, just a few days before the Iowa Caucus, Summit Carbon Solutions co-founder Bruce Rastetter announced he will be supporting Trump in the caucus. Rastetter was reportedly close to being named Secretary of Agriculture by Trump during his first administration. He visited Mar-a-Lago not too long ago, which prompted the Trump campaign to declare the candidate was “undecided” on the boondoggle known as the carbon capture pipelines.

At that time, November of 2023, Trump’s campaign said it was very much aware of the unpopularity of the carbon capture pipelines. And the campaign declared Trump was “undecided” on whether Iowans should be forced to sell their land for the project.

Rastetter declared his support for Trump on Saturday morning. Not long after, Trump attacked Vivek Ramaswamy on TruthSocial. Ramaswamy is the only major candidate who has publicly opposed the carbon capture pipeline projects and use of eminent domain.

Rastetter initially supported Chris Christie in 2016. He advised Trump on agriculture issues during the White House transition following the 2016 victory.
