The Urbandale School District notified families and staff on Tuesday that it would be making face coverings optional effective Jan. 25, 2022.

“Today, Jan. 25, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit issued a ruling which reversed the lower court’s ruling,” the email said. “As such, this negates the UCSD Board mask mandate. Therefore, in compliance with this federal decision which upholds the state law, face masks are now optional in UCSD buildings effective Jan. 25, 2022.”

Urbandale said it encourages wearing face coverings to help mitigate transmission of COVID-19. Families are encouraged to monitor the COVID-19 Status Dashboard, which is intended to provide families and staff with positive case data to help families and staff make “informed decisions” regarding personal mitigation measures.
