Kevin Virgil, a former U.S. Army Ranger and member of the intelligence community, has successfully secured the required number of signatures to appear on the Republican ballot for the upcoming June 4 election in Iowa’s Fourth Congressional District. Virgil announced his candidacy to challenge incumbent Congressman Randy Feenstra on Jan. 4.

Having met and exceeded the nomination petition signature requirement set forth by Iowa’s Secretary of State in a little over a month, it is clear Virgil’s candidacy has strong grassroots support. Since Virgil announced earlier this year, his campaign has met with voters in 18 of the district’s 36 counties, with scheduled stops in the remaining 18 counties before the filing period closes on March 15.

“I am pleased to report that I gathered all the required signatures less than five weeks after publicly announcing my candidacy. This is a testament to the Iowa voters’ strong demand for change after several years of feeling unrepresented by Congressman Randy Feenstra. I look forward to debating Congressman Feenstra on the key issues important to the voters at the earliest opportunity,” Virgil said.

Unlike his opponent, Virgil has demonstrated his commitment to hearing from the voters in the Fourth District by hosting meet-and-greet style events with extended, unfiltered question-and-answer sessions. He believes that if a leader cannot stand nose to nose with voters and explain his policy positions, then he will not be able to stand up for them in Washington, DC.

In addition to strong grassroots support, Virgil has secured endorsements from both current and former state and federal legislators. He expects to receive many more endorsements in the coming weeks.

Virgil looks forward to continuing to meet with voters, listening to their concerns and sharing his policy proposals over the coming months. For more information on Virgil’s campaign and upcoming events, please visit www.virgilforcongress.com or follow his campaign on Twitter.
