Democrat State Sen. Molly Donahue expressed concern on Thursday during a Senate Education Committee hearing for public school students who would lose a spot on the bench if public schools are required to allow nonpublic school students who reside in the district to participate in programs not offered by the nonpublic school.

Donahue said as a coach with experience, she knows a seat on the bench taken by a nonpublic school student means one seat taken away from a public school student.

It is interesting to hear Donahue have such a concern because a couple of years ago, when the Iowa legislature was debating a bill to prohibit boys from competing in girls’ sports, Donahue voted against it.

That’s right, Donahue is completely and totally fine with a boy taking a spot from a girl, but a nonpublic school student earning a spot on a public school team — that’s just too far for far-left Molly Donahue.
