Ope! PAC put out a billboard that really missed the mark. It appears the liberal group is attacking Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds because, according to them, abortions in Iowa are up 42 percent from 2018-2020.
Yes, the same people who want everyone else to believe abortion is “normal” and that abortion is “health care” are attacking the fact that abortions are up 42 percent.
Obviously, they’re trying to upset the base of Gov. Reynolds over this issue. But they seem to have upset their own supporters who, undoubtedly, do not see anything wrong with killing unborn babies because – hey, abortion is health care. And Democrats would never want to decrease health care, right?
The trainwreck of a message drew a 10-thread response from Ope! PAC.
“Well OPE! has kicked a hornet’s nest with our billboard! We appreciate all your feedback, positive and negative. This is how we get better.
“The stat on the billboard may have come as a surprise to some folks. And to others, it may have seemed like we were casting a safe, normal and legal health procedure in a negative light. Neither are the case.”
Let’s stop there. Really? So if killing an unborn baby is a safe, normal and legal health procedure, why are they bemoaning the fact abortions have increased 42 percent? It seems they should be celebrating — perhaps even thanking — Gov. Reynolds.

“Iowa HAS seen a 42 percent increase in abortions over the last two years. Those numbers come from the Iowa Department of Public Health and were shared in a media release from Planned Parenthood North Central in July of this year.
“Kim Reynolds and the Iowa GOP defunded Iowa’s Family Planning program which led to an 85 percent participation rate decline. They also defunded science-based sex education statewide.
“To quote Planned Parenthood, ‘the increase in Iowa’s abortion rate for a second straight year is no surprise. The uptick in abortions is likely because fewer Iowans have access to birth control and sex education than a year ago.’
“As Iowans, we are tired of Kim Reynolds’ virtue-signaling ‘pro-life’ while ushering in an agenda that has resulted in over 6,000 preventable deaths due to COVID, turned away migrant children in need of shelter, stripped Iowans of life-saving workplace protection.
“We realize the tone of this message may not have landed right for some folks and we appreciate you letting us know. We have added context to the website link along with information on how to donate to organizations that help Iowans access abortion.
“Our team will always aim to break through echo chambers that keep voters isolated from the information they need to make better voting decisions.
“Millions of Iowans will never see a Planned Parenthood press release. They will not see the story of closed family planning clinics discussed in their local paper or shared on Facebook among their friends.
“We appreciate feedback and hope that you will continue to engage in these conversations with us and your friends and family. Kim Reynolds’ policies are harming all Iowans and it is up to all of us to grab an oar and get to work bringing balance back to our state government.”
