Nick Mahlstadt is running for Indianola School Board, but he has also chimed in on the controversy in Waukee where sexually explicit books were found stocked on the shelves of a school library.

Mahlstadt shared a story from the Des Moines Register about the books:

“This should concern everyone, especially the group that proclaims ‘freedom,’ especially the mother group naming themselves after freedom. In all seriousness, if we are to be a society that proclaims freedom we don’t go about that by banning books. Our kids are watching.”
