While there are not many Republican primaries in store for 2024, there are a few key races. One of which we are highlighting today.

In our opinion, it features two candidates with quite the contrast. One candidate has served in the legislature previously. The other has been at the Capitol testifying for a number of bills that support parental rights in education as well as other conservative principles.

The race we are talking about features former State Rep. Garrett Gobble and conservative activist Samantha Fett. Both Gobble and Fett are running for Iowa House District 22.

Unlike many of the other GOP primaries, House District 22 presents pretty contrasting candidates. Gobble served in the House previously and has a voting record. Fett has spent plenty of time at the Capitol over the last two years testifying in support of various bills.

Fett has spent the last two years speaking up on behalf of parental rights in various subcommittee. Gobble, meanwhile, has a voting record that speaks for itself.

And listen, none of this is to suggest that Gobble is a bad guy. I like him. I tried to talk with him during his term in the Iowa House and encourage him.

But the fact of the matter is we have known commodities here in this race. When push came to shove, one candidate sided with the groomers and the other sided with families.

These issues are fundamental. Sexually explicit materials do not belong in schools. Period. There should be no apology after that statement. There shouldn’t be any qualifiers. It should be clear and definitive. And that is what Fett offers.

Meanwhile, Gobble criticized former State Sen. Jake Chapman when Chapman called out the disgusting materials. You can read about that here.

Gobble also seems to have a comfortable partnership with the radical GLBT Youth in Iowa Schools Taskforce group (known as Iowa Safe Schools).

That’s right — Iowa Safe Schools — the group that has hosted the controversial, X-rated Iowa Governor’s Conference on LGBTQ Youth in Iowa.

Iowa Safe Schools ‘Governor’s Conference’ has been plenty controversial in the past, Branstad rejected requests to change name

Gobble also spent time with Iowa Safe Schools playing video games and talking politics. I’ll put it this way, the next time a conservative representative buddies up to Iowa Safe Schools will be the first time a conservative representative buddies up to Iowa Safe Schools.

Conservatives simply do not buddy up with the LGBTQ activists.

Speaking of such. Two of the endorsement Gobble has received from Iowa House members include Rep. Jacob Bossman, who was featured in that photo with Gobble and Iowa Safe Schools as well as Rep. Shannon Latham, who voted in support of performing sex changes on kids last year.

So, we have representatives who are buddy-buddy with LGBTQ lobbyists and another representative who support transing kids supporting Gobble.

In addition, we know that Gobble believes in providing kids with a “diverse educational experience.”We know that because he says it in this ad.

“Strong and diverse educational experience.”

“Diverse educational experience.”

What does that mean exactly? What exactly does a “diverse educational experience” mean? Taken on its own — maybe nothing too sinister. But combined with the fact that Gobble is buddy-buddy with Iowa Safe Schools, opposed school choice (Education Savings Accounts), criticized Chapman for speaking out against sexually explicit materials in school libraries — the picture becomes a bit fuller with the “diverse educational experience” statement.

Gobble also opposed ending tenure on college campuses in Iowa — something any conservative would support.

Gobble also altered a curriculum transparency bill. Instead of giving parents a heads-up, Gobble worked to make it more of a “transparency-after-the-fact” bill. It allowed teachers to teach something on Monday, and update any time after by Friday.

So the transparency would come after the indoctrination, not before.

Fett, meanwhile, has shown up at the Capitol as a mom. She has shown up and defended policies that have gotten her attacked. Her daughter was one of the girls who stood firm to protect women’s sports.

She is, 100 percent, one of us.

Meanwhile, Gobble is being less than genuine in his campaign. Check this out…

That is incredibly untrue. It just is. Gobble opposed Education Savings Accounts when he was in the legislature and had the opportunity to actually do something about it. Now that they have passed, he is proclaiming to be a supporter. It’s a flip-flop that would make Mitt Romney blush.

Has Gobble changed? Maybe. But conservative Iowans don’t have to count, or hope, on that — they can just elect an actual conservative who has already proven their credentials with Fett.

Again, Gobble is a caring and kind person. But I’m not convinced now is the time for kind and caring. We need conservatives willing to go on offense. Willing to be bold. Willing to be unapologetic in their conservatism.

We know we have that with Fett.

There is no excuse for conservatives and conservative advocacy groups not to coalesce around the conservative.

  1. Just a suggestion, I would be more descriptive for the readers and say, tax-free Education Savings Accounts (HSA) or simply tax-free ESA. Education Savings Accounts or tax-free ESA? The latter is quicker and more descriptive.

Gobble voted against Republican Entitlement Reform (RER) and the tax-free ESA? Wow! Tax-free ESAs are a cornerstone of the Republican Ownership Society! You have said enough for me, Gobble has to go. Trust me, Republican solutions work.

Goofball DeSantis is running all over Iowa campaigning for President calling Florida’s passage of tax-free ESAs – “School Choice.” Iowa Governor Reynold does it too, unbelievable. Then both of them neglect to explain it’s simply an OPTION for families. Everybody and their dog knows that another option never hurts anybody.

IRAs are old-taxed accounts. ESAs enjoy tax-free deposits, growth, AND withdrawals! Amen

Iowa passed tax-free ESAs before Florida because Iowa leads the way with the tax-free ESA. The TRUTH is; When you hunger for Republican solutions, step into the Ownership Society at the Iowa Standard – Dot-Com.
