Iowa faith leaders are condemning Nikki Haley for her comment during last week’s FAMiLY Leader Thanksgiving Forum in which she said her position on abortion was based on “my truth.”

“Truth is not subjective. There is not my truth and your truth. There is only God’s truth. Period. Failing to protect the lives of innocent babies is nothing short of ignorance of God’s truth and we cannot afford to elect a president who bases their stances on the political winds or their own opinions.” – Pastor Darran Whiting, Liberty Baptist Church

“Governor DeSantis doesn’t base his opinions on what he believes is ‘his truth.’ He knows that when it comes to saving life’s most vulnerable, there’s only one truth to stand on: God’s truth.” – Pastor & Representative Jon Dunwell, Iowa House of Representatives 38th District

“We need leaders who will reject this growing ideology in America which claims we each decide what’s true and what’s not. God’s Word is the only decider of what’s true and right. Ron DeSantis understands that, and it’s one of the many reasons I support him to be the next president of the United States.” – Pastor Brad Cranston, Founder & President of Baptists for Biblical Values

“There is only one truth we, as Christians, look to for answers: God’s truth. His truth tells us, ‘For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.’ Right now in America, we need leaders who stand by the truth. Ron DeSantis is that leader.” – Pastor Joyce Schmidt, St. Olaf Lutheran Church

Ron DeSantis this weekend also called out Haley for using this phrase. In a press availability after opening his new office in Urbandale Saturday, he said, “No, it’s not your truth or this person’s truth. There’s the truth.”

Last week, the DeSantis campaign added over 50 new Iowa pastors and faith leaders to its National Faith and Freedom Coalition, bringing the total number of faith leaders supporting DeSantis to over 100 strong.
