Last week, Congresswoman Mary Miller (R-IL) announced that she will introduce the Parents Opt-in Protection Act to stand up for parental rights and create a barrier between our nation’s schoolchildren and inappropriate influences from radical transgender ideology and Big Tech.

“Schools are partnering with radical left-wing lobbying organizations and Big Tech to force young children to fill out surveys regarding sexual orientation, transgender ideology, and woke politics,” Miller said. “I am introducing the Parents Opt-in Protection Act to ensure parents are informed and give written consent before schools and Big Tech can collect any information from our children. Schools should never force sexual materials or political ideology upon children while keeping parents in the dark. Parents are the guardians of their children, and we must protect parental rights in the classroom.”

Schools across the country administer surveys to gather students’ personal information regarding sexual orientation, gender identity, and other harmful political ideologies. In many cases, these surveys are administered without the consent of parents. Rep. Miller’s bill would protect parental rights and clarify that parents must “opt” their child into certain surveys administered at schools.
