Roosevelt High School principal Kevin Biggs sent out the following email to “Roughrider Families” on Monday.

Good evening Roughrider families:

I made an announcement at school this afternoon, but wanted to email all of you as well. If your child observes the Ramadan holiday, which begins today through May 12th, we are opening a quiet space in the counseling office for any student who desires to pray during the school day. So we stay organized and respectful to all, please have your child stop by my office if they would have the desire to use this quiet space. Thank you.

Kevin Biggs, Principal
Roosevelt High School

We asked Kevin what other holidays and for what other religions he has sent out public emails to all school families regarding prayer space being available during the school day. We also asked if he would please forward whatever previous emails he has sent.

We have also reached out to Iowa Atheists to get their initial reaction to the email.
