Earlier in 2020 we told you all about Des Moines Public School superintendent Thomas Ahart and his wife. We highlighted Ahart’s costume that mocked Christians and prayer, which he donned while displaying his DMPS identification badge.
We also told you about his wife wearing the completely inappropriate Donald Trump costume to a DMPS-sponsored event at a DMPS campus.
Now, as Ahart continues his quest to take on Iowa’s Republican governor and legislature, he made quite a startling comment at Wednesday’s board meeting.
“The hope was that, that um, you know, with the holidays and the activity that we anticipated happening over the holidays, um, that there could be an uptick in, um, in, in uh, activity — COVID activity,” Ahart said. “And so, having that, that would’ve bought us a week. And then if things looked promising, move forward the following week and if things didn’t look promising, still having time to put in another waiver if we thought that that was appropriate.”
So here you have the guy in charge of Iowa’s largest public school district publicly stating he was hoping more people would get COVID over the holidays.
Think about that.
It is a shame that Thomas Ahart is involved in education at all, let alone the superintendent of Iowa’s largest public school district.
It’s downright criminal.
If the DMPS school board refuses to acknowledge this comment just as it refused to acknowledge the problems with the actions of the power couple earlier this year, then it is abdicating its responsibility as well.
