We apologize some of you have received more than one email from us Thursday but we wanted to make sure you were aware of the latest developments.

On Thursday, Senate File 159, the Governor’s Education Bill, passed the Senate on a  26 – 21 vote! Thank you to those of you who emailed your Senator! It made a huge difference. If you didn’t get a chance to email your Senator, we hope you’ll stay tuned and watch for another alert in the near future. We anticipate another action alert going out sometime soon asking for your help contacting members of the Iowa House of Representatives. We’ll try very hard to limit the number of emails hitting your inbox but we’ll need your help at least a couple more times this legislative session on this and other issues.

The Senate made technical changes to the bill. We’ll be asking the House to make more substantive changes to the scholarship (ESA) portion of the bill among other changes.  We are extremely encouraged by the conversation and the progress toward school choice legislation that empowers parents and students to make the choice that best meets their needs. This is a great step in the right direction. Thank you for being willing to stay on our email list and participate in the process!
