***The Iowa Standard will spend the next few weeks highlighting some of the men and women running for office in Iowa we believe worthy of support. What do we mean? These individuals stand out in the field of candidates and all Iowans should consider helping their candidacy in some way, shape or form.***
It was not that long ago that Brad Zaun received nearly 25 percent of the vote in the Republican primary for U.S. House in Iowa’s Third District. Zaun was unable to win in the nominating convention, however, as David Young emerged.
In the six years since, Zaun’s “loss” in the Third District has proven to be a win for Iowa.
Sen. Brad Zaun is running for re-election in District 20 and he receives The Iowa Standard’s wholehearted endorsement.
First things first, Sen. Zaun is genuinely a nice guy. And yes, nice guys typically finish last in politics, but Sen. Zaun treats everyone at the Capitol with dignity and respect.
He also has done an outstanding job as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Sen. Zaun works as hard as anyone in the Iowa Senate, proposing a number of bills and doing his best to see them through.
Sen. Zaun has been a staunch defender of the Second Amendment and has kept close tabs on taxpayer dollars.
In 2020, he earned the Uncommon Public Service Award from the Hoover Presidential Foundation — and for good reason. One of the busiest senators in the chamber, Sen. Zaun maintains a positive attitude throughout session.
