Jenny Risner, the Ames Superintendent, resigned on Friday. The school board and Risner released a joint statement.
“Superintendent Jenny Risner and the Board of Directors of the Ames Community School District have reached an agreement whereby Superintendent Risner will resign from her position at the end of the fiscal year, June 30, 2021,” the statement said. “The superintendent had two years remaining on her three-year contract.”
Risner intends to pursue other professional opportunities.
The board expressed its “sincere thanks and deepest gratitude” to Risner for her “tireless work and leadership through what has been one of the most difficult years any of us have faced in public education.”
Risner defended the district’s decision to utilize the Black Lives Matter Week of Action at School. She also lied at a House Government Oversight Committee where she misrepresented how many parents spoke out against the BLM Week of Action during a school board meeting that was recorded.
