Representative Shannon Lundgren flies a little bit under the radar when it comes to conservatives in the Iowa House, but she deserves credit for the efforts she has made the last few years — especially as it relates to the life issue.
Lundgren cosponsored a bill to impact taxpayer funding of abortion, a bill that requires informed consent when it comes to medication abortion (including abortion reversal) and she also put her name on a bill to strengthen religious liberty in Iowa.
During the subcommittee on the informed consent bill in relation to medication abortion, Lundgren let pro-abortion lobbyists have it.
“I heard a lot of things today,” Lundgren said. “Required information to women denies care, erects barriers and gets misinformation. I honestly sit here and cannot believe that anyone would say it is wrong to give a woman information in regards to her health care, especially people in this room who seem to care so much about women’s health care.
“I do take issue with anyone saying that this information would keep sexual assault victims from seeking help. We’re not talking about any of that in this bill. We’re talking about, plain and simple, information being provided to women. And I just can’t believe some of you could stand here and say that that’s a bad thing.”
